Morning
Great ride into work today - sun out but the wind in my face the whole way, hopefully should be a fast run home as I take the benefit.
Then it's a BBQ, few beers and then off to see the wrestling at the town hall - the kids will love it (ok, maybe me too). Right onwards to analysing data

Morning bumders
Just got back from a spin on the road bike, nice 40 miles to get the day started Getting rather used to this whole sitting there doing naff all but spinning the legs for a few hours. Next step is to start using strava  Still not gonna shave/wax my legs though. That's too far.
Anyway, on with studyings etc.0 -

Yep, you just went right and did it!
Mornin' fluffers
Up early to do a quick welding job on the car, then it was on to the Ticketers for the test. I'm now sat in a coffee shop awaiting results. Hopefully, all will be well and I can head off out to play bikes, via the Royal Snail office to collect my new Deore stoppers. It could br a day of win, or a day of expensive fail. M'eh, some suprise is better than none at all!

Morning roadies and lycra boys,
My legs ache after pedalling to and from work yesterday, spent too much time racing wierdos on bikes with odd shaped handlebars. One c*** on a fixie even tried to overtake me up a hill, I wasn't having that. But I did follow a bird with a nice arse who didn't realise her lycra leggings were partly see through - couldn't bring myself to overtake
No time for coffee this am so I've necked a can of Monster to try wake myself up. Now it's time to go internet shopping for bike things and avoid jobs from the entertainment prevention officer "I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." bennett_346 wrote:Found myself doing far more road rides myself recently, i think part of the appeal is that you don't have a mucky bike to clean at the end, or mucky clothes, and you can get a decent ride in 1-2 hours instead of needing 4 or more hours.
Not nearly as much fun as the real thing but the trail starts right outside my front door and it's rideable any time of year. Also if I didn't pedal to work a couple of times a week I'd be a fat fark."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
I think i was overdoing mtb, once a fortnight or once every 3 weeks feels enough mtb for me, i used to do it once or twice a week but there's only so many times i can be bothered to drive 40 miles to a trail centre and the stuff round where i live is an hours road ride away anyway.
Besides, flying down a speed camera'd 30mph road at 42mph past stuck cars is kind of enjoyable :twisted:0 -
Yeah, I know what you mean - my nearest trail centre is 40 odd miles away and it's got badly drained clay soil so in winter it's a proper swamp. I should live somewhere else.
Roadie riding in London rush hour can be fun as you've got 2 ton obstacles to dodge around - keeps me on my toes."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

I have this trail centre issue combined with a severe lack of anything vaguely resembling a mountain down here, there's some reasonable(ish) hills but there's no trails in these places so road bikes make sense.
Plus you don't get stuck behind people on the trails, with the roads you just overtake them and leave them in your dust. Even better when it's a group.Stevo 666 wrote:Roadie riding in London rush hour can be fun as you've got 2 ton obstacles to dodge around - keeps me on my toes.
True, sometimes I head down into London on the bike just to liven things up a bit and vent a bit of anger0 -
Tomorrow, I'm out on the full-susser for a stomp around the local trails here, as again, I'm 40+ miles to the nearest proper trail centre. I enjoy riding on the road, I'll admit, but I enjoy bouncing along so much more.
The car failed it's first test, so I got it home and rebuilt the induction system and dealt with a couple of minor jobs. Two hours after failing, I zipped it back up to the testers and got the pass. I picked up the bike bits from Royal Snail on the way home.
So the bike now has spangly new brakes fitted, and a Salsa flip-lock. I can't be arsed to shorten the hoses - I'll do them in the week. I'm reckoning I've waved sufficient tools for today! How would I write my own epitaph? With a crayon - I'm not allowed anything I can sharpen to a sustainable point.

Afternoon Losers!
Well, it's been a busy day for me. Last night, my best mate surprised visited me as he missed my birthday (he lives in Essex, so I didn't expect him) which led to a drinking session. Was a fantastic night.
Today, I've spent most the day with him, he's gone visiting some other friends, but I'm about to meet up with him to go for a walk (an actual walk, though we have known each other a long time...) and then off to some friends house for food and more drinks.
Laters! It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

not quite morning but still. did 12 or so miles on the local trail but tbh wasn't feeling it so cut the ride short. think i probably missed a lot of stuff out as I didn't have a spare innertube on me. think tomorrow might have to involve a lot of tarmac...0
