Anyone with opinions of the above, or maybe a trek wahoo, looking for a knoock about to cover odd trail and farmers track and some road use to save wear and tear on my road bike.

For a commuter a Voodoo Marasa is a good buy, 29 inch wheels (700c) hydrualic discs but rigid forks (lighter weight), for a more off road capable MTB the Voodoo Bantu is a good bet, both from Halfords. And for the money they are fairly special. The other option is the Rockrider 5.3 from Decathlon/
The forks and drivetrain on that bike belong on a £250 one, not a £400 one.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
