Anyone with opinions of the above, or maybe a trek wahoo, looking for a knoock about to cover odd trail and farmers track and some road use to save wear and tear on my road bike.

    Budget?

    Most Lardrocks are overpriced tat.

Link to the exact model(s) you are looking at please.

Around £400. I'm not expecting anything special, commute around 11 miles each way.

For a commuter a Voodoo Marasa is a good buy, 29 inch wheels (700c) hydrualic discs but rigid forks (lighter weight), for a more off road capable MTB the Voodoo Bantu is a good bet, both from Halfords. And for the money they are fairly special. The other option is the Rockrider 5.3 from Decathlon/

The forks and drivetrain on that bike belong on a £250 one, not a £400 one.
