Morning all

Can anyone recommend a quality, knowledgeable, trustworthy LBS in central/north London (ideally, close to Angel / Highbury / Stoke Newington)?

I need to get my di2 gearing sorted on my new Canyon and would prefer to take it to somewhere other than CycleSurgery, Evans etc (had a couple of very bad experiences with bike services recently).

Cheers

    Condor.

Yes, but apparently the waiting list is similar to that of Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck in Bray....

Shorter Rochford in potters bar (Just outside the M25) is my recommendation.

Condor does have a long-ish waiting list (~ 2 weeks typically). But it is the ONLY shop in london I would trust with high end kit. Everyone else I've tried has made a mess of something, and I've ended bringing the bike into Condor afterwards to get it fixed.

It depends what you want really, but my suggestion would be Micycle just off Upper Street.

I've been in there a few times and the guys in there are a good laugh and very knowlegable. Bianchi fans no less.

While I have recently seen some of their so called Hand built wheels and I am not sure I would trust them at all... :?

I got the Specialized concept store in Covent Garden (which is a cyclesurgery) to build up my S Works SL4 tarmac with Di2 (I supplied the frame and all parts).
They were excellent (Rob was the head mechanic who built up my bike) and I would highly recommend them

Not North I know, but I have found Geoffrey Butler Cycles in Croydon to be very good.

Swift Cycles in Spitalfields also worth a mention. They installed di2 on my friends p5, and he's been happy with their service.

If it's just servicing you are after, London Bicycle Workshop at the corner of Rosebury Avenue, a couple of 100 yards from Condor are pretty good.

Not directly related to Di2 but Lunar Cycles (http://lunarcycles.co.uk) in Kentish Town was praised in a thread about Campag servicing recently.

Sorry to hear about the wheels. Condor is more than happy to rectify any problems with hand built wheels if due to workmanship. Just return them to the store and we will be more than happy to help.

Also consider Pretorius Bikes in Shoreditch. Pretty much specialise in high-end kit, I'm sure that Di2 wouldn't be an issue for them at all.

Unless Mosquito have changed an awful lot since I was last there a couple of years ago I would keep well clear. True they stock some lovely bicycles, and the fit I had done there when I bought my Pegoretti was very good, but their workshop is (or at least was) truly scary, expensive, incompetent and arrogant. Perhaps they have mended their ways, and rid themselves of what had to be one of the most bumbling, dangerous and unpleasant mechanics I ever had the misfortune to meet. I hope so. One of the owners is a nice guy.

    That would be me

    They where great

The comforting thing was the guy said if the mechanic doesn't know how to fix your problem he will go home and spend hours reading up on how to do it!!!

I haven't used their service, but i had a short conversation with one of their mechanic called "paul" i think. I had a broken sram shifter which needed mending (i did it myself after some research on the net and bought a set of tools).

he was fairly pleasant but the opening line was awesome..."Oh you need to fix your shifters, ya I have serviced many red shifters before. I am as good mechanic as you will get anywhere in London!" I wasn't quite sure how I should have responded to that as it was over the phone. Very difficult to gauge if he was being genuine or blowing his own trumpet without seeing his face.

lol, they might be amazing. I still need to find time to pop into the shop on evening to check out all the nice bikes. go pass the place on a daily basis
