Jacket for multi use

Hi
I am after a jacket that could be used most of the year, with layering etc and would be able to stop the odd shower and still be breathable, as I only have to look at excerise and I end up sweating..
I have been looking at the Montane Singletrack Jacket and the Swrve Milwaukee ES jacket, just wondering if anyone else could share their experiences, also would like to use the bike off road so has to be able to with stand some mud!
Not a fan of Altura jackets as had bad experience with them.
