anyone where I can get a pair of these for good price?

got Conti 4 seasons, within 2 days 2 punctures. 1 one them is a large nail, which is fair enough, but the other is caused by the smallest shard of glass, which normally shouldn't have caused any issue. So i am not impressed with the tyre's anti puncture performance looking to switch and also the fact I have 2 gaping holes now.

thanks

I got mine from high on bikes. Good price for rigids and nice people to deal with!

Ive used durano plus before - two punctures on the first ride. It was wet. I'm not saying they're not good, they lasted for a good while but 4 seasons are probably similar in durability. I use GP4000s typically and the Durano Plus seemed no more robust or puncture free for me.

Are you sure it was a Durano Plus and not a Durano or a Durano S?

The Durano Plus is based on the Marathon Plus which is pretty much nuke proof. 4 Seasons are similar to the standard Durano and GP4000S to the Durano S.

Having persevered 4 Seasons, GP4000 and GP4000S because everyone raves about them I find the Schwalbe tyres to be superior. I've got two pairs of 25mm 4 Seasons and a 28mm pair in the garage and I've had to make a real effort to decide to put them on some wheels rather then just leave them on the shelf and buy more Duranos.

I've found the durano+ bomb proof.

I usually buy from bike24.com, but they're EUR30 at the moment.

  • I bought Durano + when they first came out. 70 miles,1 flint went right through the lot on the first wet ride with these on! Used Krylion Carbons ever since, when they wear out will try the next generation of Michelins!

After recommending I go and get a puncture today! Not sure why but still happy with the tyres. London commuting is hard on tyres, especially after a wet spell as it washes all sorts of crud into the roads.

You could be right, they may have been Durano S.

I understand your frustration however, I'd suggest you leave it a while. I have been using 4 seasons all winter (I think it's still winter on o 01 June!!!) for the daily commute into and out of central London and (I know I'll regret saying this!) I haven't had a single visit from the p**cture fairies. I agree that Duranos are a hardier tyre but if your 4 seasons are new I think you've just had one of those unlucky periods we all come across where it may make little or no difference what tyres you have on. My memories of using Armadillos were of puncture proof accompanied by a wooden ride with little confidence for grip in the wet. Hence I'd give them another chance!

TBH, you'd have to put it down to bad luck puncturing twice on one ride even if Durano S. I use the S all year round and they are pretty good. Last puncture was a piece of wire that got through the puncture guard - might not have happened on a std Durano but then it probably wouldn't have happened at all were it not for all the scrap yards I get to ride past on my commute!

I'd say the pick of the Duranos is probably the standard version. Much lighter than the Plus but still loads of puncture protection. The S probably needs a bit more maintenance but they do have a nice feel.
