What are peoples recommendations for puncture resistant tires/tubes. Got 3 punctures in the space of 10 miles today and would like to avoid that in future.

Gatorskins about £25 per tyre, will last for a few 1000 miles.Dolan Mythos and Her dirty sister

Training, I know punctures are a part of cycling just looking to minimise as much as possible. Will have a look at the gatorskins.0

These are on special offer at the moment, something else to consider, highly recommended...roll well, grip well and they look good too - always a consideration

I've not had a puncture in a year of using Gatorskins, so I'm happy to recommend them.
As a package, they are very good: a good combination of longevity, puncture resistance, weight (much lower than many other tough tyres) and price. Some people find that the grip is lacking (I don't, though I'm running 27x1 1/4), and they aren't the most supple, but they're also pretty cheap. The GP4000s is another perennial favourite, though I haven't tried it.0 -
Purely for puncture protection and imho better than the GP4000S for puncture protection:

Never punctured in 8 years for me (10000+ miles)0 -
I'd certainly recommend GP4000's (25's).
I rode over 1/2 glass beer bottle at the weekend (I looked down for my water bottle and didn't see it). It made the most excruciating sound as it shattered, and my initial reaction was to simply stop pedalling as I expected both my tyres to instantly deflate. Nothing, not even a slow puncture! I think I was probably a little lucky, but by contrast I had some Mavic tyres on the week before (came fitted with my wheels) and I was less than impressed with the 3 punctures I had within a 10k ride.0 -

Damn, they are cheap. I couldnt find any to replace mine, I had the bontragers for approx 3 years with no punctures and wanted them again. Should have looked harder!
I have conti 4 seasons now, no puncutres yet, but expensive!Trek 1.5 Road

Which do you consider the all round better tyre, for performance and puncture protection, grip in wet especially?Scott Speedster S20 Roadie for Speed

No for me on Conti GP 4 seasons. Got 2 punctures in 2 days and one of them is a small shard of glass. and both occasions i have the tyres pumped to the right pressure.
I have used gator and armadillo before. I prefer the armadillo as it was grippy. gator was no good in wet.
people say Durano Plus is good, so I am looking to get one and try it out. if not so good i am going back to Armadillo. The downside of Armadillo is that it is extremely heavy, a lot of rubber.Road - Cannondale CAAD 8 - 7.8kg

they sound pretty good and have good reviews on evans, am i likely to notice a difference between 23s and 25s? I am kinda tight so dont want to pay extra for a few millemeters if theres no real benefit0 -
Apparently 25 are more comfortable than 23 and no real difference in rolling resistance.
I run 23 and am considering 25 with my next tyres. I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on those Bontys after seeing the reviews just want to know how they stack up against GP4 Seasons and 4000'sScott Speedster S20 Roadie for Speed

Had 23mm Gatorskin Hardshell, the proper puncture resistant tyres, no problems. Switched (on LBS recommendation) to 25mm GP4s and they're more comfortable, faster, grippier and still no punctures.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Tubeless tyres are worth a look if your wheels can be adapted. Self sealing, no pinch punctures and you can run at lower pressure which softens the ride0

Cant say i have really noticed a difference. I dont push hard in the wet, so never had any slides or loss of grip. So price wise if i found the bontrager at that price, i would have gone for them. I had about 3/4 years out the bontragers before they started to perish.Trek 1.5 Road

Nice 1, think I will pull the trigger. At that price, they can be great spare tyres anyway. CheersScott Speedster S20 Roadie for Speed

I have thrown a lot at the Bontrager's including running them at 60psi ( I knew no better at the time) when I was easily 90+kg. I have not pushed them in slippery conditions and they have been fine. They don't roll as well the GP4000s but then you can't expect everything from a £12.00 tyre!0

Been using Gatorskins for about 12 months now and haven't had a puncture yet.0

in case you haven't already got GP4000s (which great in my experience), Schwalbe Durano Plus also very good...0
