Cheap 8 speed shifter?

The time has come for me to get a shifter for my Cannondale.

I'm looking for a RH STI shifter for my 8 speed cassette (I know, low spec) that will replace my ancient Shimano 105 that won't engage any gears anymore. (I've stuck it in 48 by 15 for the momemt)

I was assuming, as any mountain biker would expect for the low-spec shifters to be plentiful and cost roughly £15-£30. But no. I couldn't even find the base model (Shimano 2300) for under £50 which was the cost of the bike itself.

Does anyone know ANYWHERE where a 8 speed shifter will cost the amount of which a recreational rider could afford?

Thanks

I have a pair of Shimano Sora STIs which are in good condition, I will go and check that they are 8 speed. I take it that they are for a road bike? I dont want much for them, pm me if you are interested.

Yeah, they're for drop bars and i'm not sure that the Deore ones are compatible.

I've searched everywhere and no large store is selling a RH only 2300 / Sora shifters.
