I think you'll find they've all been the courses of champions. Hence why the rainbow jersey is handed out at the end!

This should be no surprise. I'm just shocked he hasn't included a cliff and a ploughed field on the route.

The Worlds in Copenhagen wasn't, Cavendish only raced the last 200m. :D

Oh yeah, silly me. He jumped out of the Team GB van and just strolled to the title. ;)

Sorry, I'm being stupid I know, but I can't find it on the website

Is there a profile for the other 100k?

I still can't get over the official mascot, what the heck were they thinking?! That looks like a tough old course, should be good.

That's fair enough for Italians but for the rest of the world he's a puppet that tells lies! Bit of a delicate time for cycling at the moment , possibly gives out the wrong message. I certainly thought it was a joke at first, the timing for the reveal was awful, might as well have put it in a US postal jersey...

But thanks for the link, at least I know what the thought behind it is now.

\If those figures are right, by my reckoning they'll be climbing just over 2,800 metres during the 10 laps of the circuit so, with a total of 3000 metres of climbing I'd guess it'd look something like this:

The mascot it Pinnocchio! :o We stayed at Montecatini Terme last year and they had figures in a cabinet in the hotel. I seem to remember that the author, Collodi, lived near there.
Which reminds me, the road next to the hotel - if I recall, called Via Verdi - has these little brass plates with names of famous people who have visited the town and there is a section of cyclists who have won stages there - Bettini, Cipo, Anquetil, Bartoli etc.

With this parcours who is likely to be the best placed or protected Brit?

    Froome? JTL?

JTL probably the best bet if he can find the form he had last year.

Neither have any pedigree in one day races though.

6 riders would be a long shot but would be great to see, though I'm not sure that the lower men would be up to the task. Course mind suit Martin

    Dan Martin
    Nico Roche
    Matt Brammier (sp?)
    Philip Deignan

On the way from Lucca to Florence, the route intentionally passes through Casalguidi (see at the down side of the San Baronto climb at 58 km) so that riders will ride by the town's cemetery, in honour of Franco Ballerini who is buried there.

Is the TT known - or is it always pretty predicable - ie not too technical or lumpy?

Probably the first year I have actually been interested.
