Hi
I am soon to carry out a charity event which involves a 50 mile cycle some of which I have recently found out is off road. I have a hybrid bike with standard 700 wheels. I'm looking for advice on how wide a tyre this wheel will take as I would like to use.

thanks in advance

    to what degree off road?

is it churning through deliberate mud and for miles, or up/down dirt trails, or simply a few short sections on unpaved but flat and reasonable paths (google earth can help with reconnaissance)

700c rims isn't enough info, need to say the rim width or at least the model of rim

on a hydrid chances are you'll be ok with 35mm at least

if it's only short, benign, off road i'd stick with slicks, on tarmac knobbly tyres waste a lot of energy and will have poorer grip than slicks
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny
