...a Falcon Eddy Merkx 5 speed road bike. Bit of a clean, some new 27 inch tyres...god their heavy..new gear cable and tighten the brakes etc...good as old..bmx son hasnt ridden so fast but refuses to drop off 9 foot walls with it. Now waiting for my next ditch discovery...simplex gearing...weinnman brakes...apparently they used to make these with steel piping as used for gas boilers or something.. I might go retro from now on...anyone got a raleigh 3 speed hustler...

Was out for a bit of a run on my old steed and ran out of spare tubes after a couple of failed puncture repairs. Called the "her indoors" rescue service to pick me up. We only have a mini, so i hid my bike in a ditch till i could get some more tubes from home. Came back a couple hours later and some sod had made off with it.

If anyone has seen a 5 speed Merkx road bike .... Oh wait.

Only joking, but if truly found in a ditch how do u know the owner wasn't intending to return??

yes, sometimes you wonder what peeps will pay for a bike....apparently Falcon made about 70 000 merkx bikes under licence from about 1974 ...many with 531...even so my ditch bike goes ok and the boys love it..not much road buzz either especially compared to dads carrera..bearings are pretty shot on the rear wheel and there is bit of play in the bottom bracket..but ok to mess about on...
