surely he wasn't legitamitely racing for an intermediate sprint? :)

Hmm, you have to have some 'unwritten rules' that are adhered to and everyone knows you only go for jersey points if in contention for the jersey or a team mate is.

Draggy day isn't it? They gain 1300m elevation without going up a 'climb'.

Uran's best chance is to ride up to Nibali and whip out his Wiggo disguise. Hard to go uphill fast when you're ROFLing

That's just what I was thinking Pross. Clearly just being difficult /awkward. Did seem very very odd though.
I wasn't watching but it was Andriato who sprinted. He was trying to get Sprint points, because after leading the Sprint Competition for a while, the other day Belkov took over, but Andriato is still in with a chance of grabbing it back. So he wasn't just being awkward.

But since I wasn't watching, I don't know what the gesture in the photo was about.

    Sprint Competition:
1 BELKOV Maxim RUS KAT 29
2 ANDRIATO Rafael BRA VIN 20
3 WURF Cameron AUS CAN 18
4 LIGTHART Pim NED VCD 15
5 RABOTTINI Matteo ITA VIN 15

Fair enough forgot there was a separate competition.

Would have thought Vini riders would be keeping their heads down. Only saw the last seconds of the sprint, Cav perhaps upset that the door was shut on him?

Make that +1. Makes slightly more sense when you remember that!

It looks very cold. Just saw a rider sit up and put gloves on. There's another as I type.

question: they're working, generating heat, but surrounded by and going through v. cold air. Which 'wins'? The heat-generating work or the cold air? Not put that well, sorry.

Are riders allowed to use clip on TT bars for a non TT stage?

    no

    Why not?
they did allow it briefly I think. Average speeds went up as did the amount of crashes. Deemed too dangerous

They had little stub versions. As well as the risk there just isn't any real benefit in a bunch when drafting, only those in a break or riding on the front would get the advantage.
