Wheels - rim brakes

I've got a 20 year old Muddy Fox 26 inch wheeled bike wich I grew up with and love - it is abroad and the original wheels are forked due to rusty spoke nips and worn out rims. Any suggestions for buying a new set - I can fix an Alivio 7 speed set on the rear hub but if I get it wrong it is a pia coz I only go there every 6 months - and no - you cannot buy locally.
