I am thinking of buying a Saris Bones bike carrier to fit on the back of my 2008 A-Class Mercedes. I have been on the Saris website to see if it is compatible with my car but dont seem to be able to see it listed. Has anyone else managed to fit one of these carriers to an A-Class and if so are they any good for carrying a road bike. I'm not sure if I will be getting the 1,2 or 3 bike version yet, so any comments on any of the versions would help.

I've got a Saris Bones 2 on the back of a Focus estate which is fairly flat at the back and I can't fault it. I've used on trips over 200 miles with a road bikes attached, I use the odd cable tie here and there and protect the frame with pipe lagging.

I've got a Saris Bones 2 and I've fitted it to all sorts of cars (Audi A3, Honda Jazz and even a C class Mercedes saloon) without a problem.

I have a Saris Bones 3. I think they fit most vehicles even if not listed on the Saris website.

^ this. The degree of adjustment in the frame format means that they are pretty much universal fitting.

Providing the car has a rear bumper/Platform for the lower legs to sit on.
