Not a new idea, but I just got a pair of these from ebay for £4 delivered:

Are micro adjust/ratcheted, so can use it to precisely set compression damping, or full lock. Works absolutely perfectly, and with two for the money can mount left or right handed.

i like the idea, but not sure about another lever on the bars0 -
cool! Especially with the original RS pop lock being such ordeal!0

My dropper seatpost remote is slowly on the way out - considered using one of these as a cheaper substitute. Could that work?Lapierre Spicy 316 2012
DMR Trailstar 2007
Specialized Hardrock 2009 Single Speedy Commutertron
Marin Mount Vision 2007 - RIP0 -
Very likely.
I have fully tested it for the the fork - it works great. is a good option for those who want a full range of compression adjust with a bar mount, or those who have bought poploc forks without the poploc and don't fancy taken the damper apart. For the money worth a go ;-)0 -
Is it possible to get higher quality, better looking levers that would also work?
I don't like the idea of the metal setup for fixing them to the bars...0 -
Yes, just have a look on ebay for thumb shifters.0
