As was trailed in the Giro Spoiler thread, Tommy Voeckler came down on the cobbles during the Tour of belgium this pm. His own bottle jumped out of its cage and jammed in the back wheel.

Not sure if he was able to carry on.

Highlights on ES now.

Do me a favour and change the thread title by removing Tommy Voeckler and just leave the T.O.B. bit please.

Voeckler did finish, but last @ 15 mins behind the next last rider.
That was an outstanding crash he had but he don't give in easily.

Heres the incident on yahoo news

    Really bizarre.

Sh1t bike handling skills to fall over because of that.

The bottle locked in the gap between the wheel and the wheel stay. A bit bizaarre.

Anyway, have changed the title so any comments re the race? Some big names in there, but likely to be overshadowed by Italian mountains this weekend.

Not sure why he didn't just skid to a halt.

I'd a similarish incident when a frame-fit pump jumped out of the frame and into the rear wheel. Obviously I was going a lot slower, but on the other hand I didn't have my hands on the bars at the time.

This was an old Tour (R V V) Flanders finish over the Bosberg to Ninove.
Boonen got the jump and pulled 2 lengths clear as Greipal got going to win by inches but nobody knew until the photo.

Nah. Could win a stage or two, but Cavendish will win more. And that's without factoring in Sagan.

It looked to me that Voeckler might have (having realised something was wrong) tried to get his right foot out (his right knee waggles as if he was trying to do this) but it didn’t happen, so he then only managed to unbalance himself earlier than might have anyway happened.

By my calc that's the equivalent of an 18:59 10 miler.

Do you know what the course was like?

It was very flat, only about 8 m elevation variation between the highest and lowest points of the course, and those points over 5 km apart.

Iglinsky took the stage in Belgium, taking off from a break just before they were caught 2 km before the finish. The group of 7 had included Voeckler and had existed for about 150 km, gaining up to over 3 mins.

Greipel took the peloton sprint and 2nd place, in front of Gilbert. Martin (Tony) keeps yellow.

Voeckler rode the whole stage without a water bottle.

    The last's a lie.

Yeah Rob Hatch - he keeps saying Voekler as 'V-Clair' :D

And Thomas as Toe-maa. Just watching he last 10k my mother (who is visiting) comes in and says "since when has Rene Artois commentated on cycling?" :D

I don't think he's done much since winning the world championships. I always prefer the black shorts with the WC jersey, à la Cav, just looks a bit more 'classic'
