Adjustment to Shimano front mech - help please !

I have just fitted a new Shimano Ultegra 10 speed 6700 set of shifters and front mech as an upgrade from the Tigara that came a standard with the bike.

The mech is working fine, but the first click which makes a small adjustment to the position of the mech to avoid any chain rub does not seem to be working. When I make the first shift from the big to small or visa versa, it just 'clicks' but does not do the micro-adjustment to the mech.

Have I set it up wrong ???

    Did you take up all the slack in the cable before tightening he clamping nut? Sounds like you are just taking up a bit of slack with the first click...
