Taking the train
Hey folks, just after a bit of info from anybody who may have done this before.
I'm looking at a couple of weeks away in Austria doing a bit of XC type biking either this summer or next. Just wondering if anybody had any experience of taking their bike with the travelling by train? Not sure I'd do the Eurostar, I live near the Lancahsire/Yorkshire/Cumbria border so was thinking the Hull-Rotterdam ferry and then down through Germany to Austria, unless I do it as a holiday at the end of the Winter season as ill be in Austria to begin with, in which case it would just be transport through Austria itself. Just wondering how easy it is to take bikes on trains in Europe?

I don't have any specific experience, but this website is good for stuff like that:

Just looking in to taking my bike over for the 100th Tour de France Sportive, I thought I would be able to carry the bike on the train with me but I've just seen this and I'm a bit worried it will go in to a luggage compartment and get smashed to bits! Has anyone had any experience of this? I've only got a soft bag for my bike not a hard case :-(0
