rear mech going?? or something else?
Difficult problem to describe but i went on a short ride last night and noticed from the off that the chain sounded different, it sounded loud.
At first i thought it was a tuning issue as it almost sounds like the noise you get when the gears need tweaking. BUT it is shifting absolutely fine, both up and down.
So next i thought maybe its chain rub on the front mech, but it was clear.
I have checked the chain (was new only a few weeks ago) and its no where near worn.
The mech hanger also looks ok.
Have also checked the cassette is locked and the wheel is sitting right and quick release tight.
Could it be the start of the rear mech going? Could it be the jockey wheels?
How can you tell?
Thanks for any help/advice

Sorry to state the bleeding obvious but if it is a few weeks old is the chain due its first dollop of oil?0

Unless the rear mech has taken a knock, then I doubt that's your problem. Usual rough drivetrain suspects are worn/dirty chain, dirty cables or poor adjustment. Jockey wheels will wear to pointy teeth without affecting the shift.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
