Are Campag (inner) Cables compatible with Shimano shifters
As per the title... does anyone know if Campagnolo cables (Brake and Gears) can be fitted to Shimano calipers and gears?
I have managed to acquire a full set of campagnolo cables (Inners and Outers) that i want to install on my shimano groupset... but I'm slightly concerned once I start the job the cables may not fit correct in the levers (i.e cable end may be a different size). I don't want the hassle of making multiple trips to the LBS... (as i end up buying other stuff as well !!!!!!! )
Thanks

I fitted a Campag rear brake (inner) cable to a Shimao Tiagra lever. It was meant to be a short term fix but it's done a couple of thousand miles without any problems. AFAIK the gear cables are not compatible.0

The nipples on Shimano gear cables are very slightly larger than Campagnolo, and won't fit in the 'pocket' in the shifters.0

Have since spoken to my LBS and a number of other LBS it seems opinions are divided on if the campag cables will fit!!
Think I will ask my LBS to fit for me....0 -
if you have the full campag cable set sell it, it's a lot more expensive the the shimano stuff.0

Campagnolo gear nipples are smaller than Shimano by about 0.5mm. There's no reason why they shouldn't work - given the propensity for STIs to chew their way through cables inside the lever, the more flexible Campagnolo cable can be a good fix.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
