Indecent exposure

Yesterday was a very sad day for me.

After 14 years of outstanding use, I had to throw away my first ever pair of cycling shorts, which I bought when I was 16 years old.

I confess upfront that this is absolutely disgusting. I dread to think how unhygienic they'd become, even after all those washes. The chamois was shredded to pieces and my betty swollox were held in place by nothing more than a few ribbons of material.

Until yesterday.

A brief effort to accelerate up a slight hill and I caught the shorts on the saddle, tearing a nice little gash in what was already quite damaged fabric. A split opens and with it my home and contents is pretty much on view.

Fortunatley this happened a mile or so from home at the end of the ride.

RIP bike shorts. To be honest, I'm amazed that they lasted 14 years and that I can still fit them.

Keep them! They sound perfect for Summer club runs.

I wouldn't need to use my hands to point out hazards on the road.

A few former BBC presenters would pay a fortune for cycling shorts like that.

Your riding buddies will be pleased because when you were on the front they got to enjoy the view through near-transparent lycra.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Impressive, perhaps the reason you still fit in them is because of the Lycra sag? :P
