If you're going factory then Elites which I've found to be fairly bombproof. The ride quality has much more to do with your choice of tyre with width and pressure being the most important factors.

I own Elites but I've only also ridden the Fulcrum Quattro, one down from the 3s. The Mavics are stiffer, the Fulcrums are slightly more comfy. The Mavics just have the speed edge but it is a very close call.

From how the Quattros feel, the 3s will be an equally outstanding wheel and you will be hard pressed to choose between them and the Elites.

They are also both bullet proof.

Looks wise and for climbing/accelartion speed, the Elites do it... just.

I have a pair of 3's which have done just over 9000km in 3+ years and I'm now looking for a suitable replacement...I might end up with just buying a new set as they have been nearly faultless

One of the nipples in the back wheel became loose twice and disappeared inside the rim. The rims have no holes in them but luckily my LBS had the tools (magnet) and patience to sort it out. This was the ONLY issue I had with the wheels, cost me £50 and 2 days off the bike

The bearings are still like new and the front was never even adjusted/ trued. I am 93kg, I ride year-round and on crappy country roads.

The braking surface has now got very little left in it so I'm going to put them aside for next winter and get a new set...looking also at handbuilts but am not convinced that a strong set can be built that will be as light and as trouble free as the F3's and at the same price

Have not ridden the Elites though so cannot comment on how they are...

am I right in thinking that you already have both sets, and just want to know which bike to put them on?

I would have thought you would be best placed to find out for yourself!

    Good spot.

@OP- Try them both on both your bikes and then decide.
