Which saddle?

Got a new bike and want to change the saddle.

Currently has a Selle Italia Signo, which is too hardcore for me. Have tried a genuine gel too which again isn't for me. It's going on a Bianchi single speed and to be honest it's mainly for pootling around on so I want it tobe comfortable without looking bulky.

Oh and to have at least some red on it. Either fully red, or black and red.

Can anyone help please?

As all asses are different there is not correct answer. Fins a shop that demos saddles and try some out.

If you don't care if it looks too 'roady' but still wont get noticed as being too out of place, then you could try one of these http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/r ... addle.html

    or the lighter version http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/r ... addle.html

...I don't know if that's the kind of answer you'd be looking for, as they are actually mountain bike saddles, but aren't too bulky really and have some padding... otherwise perhaps you're after a road saddle with a goof fit and haven't found a good enough fit yet.

Or a Charge Spoon? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/charge-spoon-sa ... omo-rails/ some people get on with those okay for more comfort kind of thing too

There you go then, might be the right kind of thing. Spoon is less bulky than the Bel, but the Bel is more padded. The Bel isn't too bulky though for what it is.

Is there anything like the Bel Air but doesn't look so naff? It's a bit blingy...ie something with a less in your face logo?

The top one looks to be exactly the right thing, but with some red preferably.

Anyone know anything about the Fizik Gobi?

Jeez not another 'which saddle' thread. Go and buy some and try 'em, that's the only way you will find your perfect saddle ....

I agree with GM. It's more a question of which shape ass have I got than which saddle should I buy.

Also, I hated my Arione on the first ride but know it has bedded in, it is the most comfortable saddle I have ridden with.

There is no answer to your question.

I'm just looking for something comfortable for short pootles round town rather than for long stints on sportives, but not looking too bulky and with some red on it. It's to go on a single speed, average journey length about 5 miles, much of which will be in the park on grass, gravel, psychopaths, as well as on road.

Well surely for 5 miles it doesn't really matter which one you go for, you can put with any saddle for 5 miles ...

    n.b. psychopaths? really?

I couldn't put up with a Selle Italia for that long. Tried two now and they are like park benches. I'm just after a nice comfortable journey round the park and up the road a few miles. Something forgiving that will lessen the effect of the 23 tyres, gravel etc and work well with a steel frame. But still looks reasonably sleek.
