Long time listener, first time caller....
I want to increase a primitive 5 gear cassette on at he rear to an 8 or 9. Just wondering if It was possible to just stick it on?
Is it also really detrimental about the types of shifter used as long as its cable?
Cheers,
Nero

You will need a new wheel, and then it may not even fit in the frame. Then new shifters, chain, possibly rear derailer.
There is a lot to consider here. 99% sure you will not be able to do it, and not without a lot of cost.0 -
Ah ok, that answers that on the rear part. I'll be sticking with the 5 cassette.

NB it is a screw on freewheel rather than cassette if 5 speed.0

I'll take a wee play around, strip the rig down and get some measurements tomorrow. See what damage I cause =D.
