Been meaning to get my bike storage sorted out for an eternity.

Am erring towards these off ebay:

Which work out at about £4 each.

Or these Beto ones:

For £6.99 each.

And I need around 6.

Any reason to go for the latter as opposed to the ebay ones.......?

I've got the ones on the bottom.

So far they work but they didn't come with rawl plugs.

I got some plain hooks without the plate bit from Halfrauds for £2.99 each and they work fine. 3 bikes hung using them, need to get a couple more.

I use the Delta Da Vinci, which come with a neat little tray for the rear tyre.

If you're mounting them in masonry or solid wood, you're fine, but they are bit more challenging to mount on a cavity wall.

    Thanks chaps,

Da Vinci looks lovely, but looks to be around £25 and scarcely available - quite a b it if I am buying 6 of them.

It's for my garage, and I will be building a wooded framework system of sorts to bolt them onto, have plenty of fixings at home, so not a problem if they come with fixings or not really.

The top ones are probably ok, the second ones look more stable though.....

On another thread I found someone had used this hook from Halfrauds:

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_249484_langId_-1_categoryId_242557?_$ja=kw:skimlinks_phg|tsid:40392&cm_mmc=Affiliates-_-PerformanceHorizon-_-skimlinks_phg-_-TopLink

Considering that, as can bag 20% off, so only £2.40 each - and just to clarify I will not be hanging any bikes off the floor, they will all be resting on their back tyre if that makes sense.

I hang mine off the ground. The hooks take my weight so a bike is no problem.

Thing is at one end of my garage, with a sloping roof, hanging them off the ground would only yield perhaps 12" of space on the floor, so no benefit for me to get them completely off the floor there - plus I will be securing into wood as opposed to brick with rawl plugs etc, so the peace of mind for me to have them resting on the floor is not costing me any useful space if that makes sense - and also makes them easy to disengage I am hoping.

Reading more reviews of those Halfords hooks I'm not so convinced, I think I might plump for the ebay ones for around £4 a pop.

I've got those Halfords ones, they're fine. I don't know what the reviews say, but they can easily take the weight of a bike. What you fix them into is the only variable.

Do you have a link to the ebay ones. Am looking out for something similar myself.

    Hi Suzy,

no access for me to ebay at work - do me a favour, drop me a pm, and I'll send it across tonight.

I'm now reconsidering the halfords hooks again!

Veronese - the holes for the screws look a bit small - or is that just the photo?

They are big enough for no8 screws which are a fair size. I think I used good quality rawl plugs and 2" screws into breeze block and they seem quite solid. You could probably wobble them side to side if you wanted to. But that is not an issue as there is no pressure side to side. The EPO's old steel MTB hangs off one with no problem.

These were the ones I mentioned, but bizarrely the listing ended today - not sure if they have just run out:

When I asked if they could sell me 6, the answer was no, only come in packs of 4.

This place has a similar design for not much more money, and you can choose between 1 & 5!

Thanks for your reply Veronese, agreed, number 8 screws should be ample really.

That was a risk when I posted the link, but like others I can't view eBay stuff at work

The ones at the top can be a struggle with 1.9" or larger tyres also if the plastic rubs off it can scratch your rims but can be replaceded easily with Sugru or similar.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
