Just got an email warning from East Coast to say train tickets are now on sale for that weekend. Purchased 2 x advanced with bike space in guards van both ways for £148 from Dundee to London Kings Cross. Not bad at all.

The train I was going to get back filled up with bikes before I could even buy it so had to take one with a change in Edinburgh!

East coast based Northern folks get on it fast!!!

I'm going on the west coast line down on the friday and back on the sunday - about £100 pp return but thats first class so not too bad.

Do you still need to book a bike place on the train if its in a bag/box?

Mine is in a Bike Box Alan and there's no way it would fit in the luggage section in a carriage, so booked a slot in the Guards van. Surely Virgin must offer that service?
