Rental/routes in San Diego

Hi all,
I'm going to San Diego for work next week and am staying in a hotel very close to the airport. Any suggestions for places to rent a bike from/routes to ride/clubs to ride with as I haven't been there before. Would like to get out on the Saturday (25th) if possible but don't fancy biking half-way across a city on the wrong side of the road!
Any tips?
