Campag 12-27 and 13-29 using same chain

Quick question hopefully
I have recently fitted a 13-29 cassette to my wheels along with a new KMC chain. I now also have a second set of wheels which I intend to use on the flat lands round here and in the better weather. My Fulcrum 5s will be relegated to winter and/hilly sportives - notably Le terrier in 3 weeks.

My question is - if I buy a 12-27 for the new wheelset will my current chain sized for 13-29 run ok. Presumably it will have a link too much but I don't really want to buy another chain at present. Any experience of this sort of thing.

I assume 10-speed. Should work ok. Make sure there's just enough slack on the rear-mech when you use the 29 with the large chainring.

i think it will be okay. if chain was sized for a 27 and then using it on a 29 it might be too short.

This will be fine. I switch between a 12-23 cassette for racing and a 13-29 for mountains without an issue, this is using a short cage rear mech with 39/53 on the front

Hmm, I'm really uncomfortable with using the same length chain.

Don't forget if the chain is too short then you risk damage to the chain stay.

For the sake of £30 get a spare chain for use with the 12/29 and use a KMC link.

The chain is unlikely to be short as it is currently having to loop around a 13-29 with no drama so I wouldn't need a longer one for 12-27.

Anyway thanks for all the replies - appreciate it.
