I have an XT FCM780 triple crank that I wish to convert to 2x10 for use on a new bike. The crank came with a BB that I have not used yet but want to use on the new frame which has a 73mm bb shell. I have consulted the shimano FCM780 tech docs and they make no mention of using spacers but the equivalent doc for FCM785 (double version of my crank) indicates that one 2.5mm spacer would be needed. Can I assume that the bottom brackets supplied will be the same with both models and that I will therefore require one 2.5mm spacer when I switch to 2x10?

There is now difference in set up. For Shimano BB 68mm BB 1 on the ND side and 2 on the Drive side. 73mm one on the drive side subject to any BB mount devices.
