a penny for your thoughts on an Ebay issue

Hello all,

I've got an issue with selling an item on ebay which i hope that some more experienced ebayers might be able to help with. Essentially I'm wondering what to do next, and alsothough it sounds extreme I'm worried I might be about to be scammed - although i can't think how.

I listed a condor road bike, got what I thought was a good price and was pleased to see that the buyer lived just a twenty minute ride away. i immediately got in contact and offered to drop the bike over once payment was recieved - he agreed.

It then took about three and a half weeks for the funds to get paid, (paypal) and only after some chasers from me, excuses from him and ultimately i had to get ebay to try and seek payment - I assume they just send a grumpy email and remind people of the legal position.

As soon as payment was in, I've got back in contact with the buyer and again offered up some dates to drop the bike over. That was two weeks ago and no repsonse at all!

I'm tempted to offer up an ultimatum, return the money and just relist - but am i being daft? should I just wait? Is this some scam?

The buyers seems to have no end of email adresses, which just makes me more concerned.....

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Leave the bike in a safe place at home and eventually he'll sort himself out and collect it or arrange a delivery. If he never does, you have a free bike.

I sold a car once. Somebody left a deposit and said they'd come back to pick it up but they never did. I sold it again a couple of weeks later (though this was in the days before mobile phones, eBay etc).

they might just have a hectic lifestyle, but if its not how everyone else behaves in society think twice.....

You'd be surprised how many idiots buy/sell something on ebay right before they're due to go on holiday.

They'll be back in a few weeks with a nice tan
  • As the purchaser has paid for the bike, it is now their property so you have a legal obligation to make reasonable attempts to give it to them (keeping it would be theft). Not sure what would count as reasonable, but certainly holding on to it for a few more weeks would be recommendable.

p.s. I'll send you a paypal invoice for that penny.
