Just bought a used road bike kitted out with Record 10 speed. I don't know much about Campys cross compatibility but I do know it's older Record Hyper Drive.

Can you run Shimano or SRAM with this or am I Campy bound now?

Would like to change it to a compact but unsure as to what will work?

Some people have matched Campagnolo to Shimano (chainrings don't matter) and it worked but you have to know what you are doing. For compact you need to buy a specific compact chainset or arms (110 bcd). Something like an FSA will work fine or a cheaper Campagnolo (Veloce/Centaur/Chorus or Record) depending on your budget.Older Campagnolo used a square taper bb but there are plenty of those available. You can go with that or a new chainset may use outboard bearings so you need to look at your budget. You could run a wider cassette at the back, 13-26,13-29, the newer 12-27 (Centaur) or I think 12-30
