New inners - lube, grease?

What is the correct procedure when installing new inners?...in the past I've just whacked em in. Should I be doing something else?

I just spray some GT-85 down the outer housing first to clear it out/lube it.

I always replace inners and outers at the same time. Sloppy seconds are not my style.
