I have the Deore on a couple of bikes. Works fine.

Ive the M590 on mine no complaints at all with it

The LX is the best there. Lightest, decent bottom bracket, stiff (hollow arms).

I dtidn't think you could still get them but at £50 absolute bargain.

Yeah, they are great. I've got 2. Not a lot different from my 770 xt.

Merlin must have got some very old stock from somewhere odd.

Jumping on this as it looks like i'm going to need a new drivetrain soon; had a chainsuck incident (though it only happened once and had no other problems with gears slipping etc.), chain a bit worn, granny ring looks suspect, but the cassette looks fine, so this LX looks like a bargain. Is it going to be any less hard wearing than the Deore M596? Where I ride and with my tight budget, durability is key.

Wear will be the same, both have steel inner and middle rings, alu outer.
