I have the Deore on a couple of bikes. Works fine.I don't do smileys.

The LX is the best there. Lightest, decent bottom bracket, stiff (hollow arms).0

Yeah, they are great. I've got 2. Not a lot different from my 770 xt.
Merlin must have got some very old stock from somewhere odd.0 -

Jumping on this as it looks like i'm going to need a new drivetrain soon; had a chainsuck incident (though it only happened once and had no other problems with gears slipping etc.), chain a bit worn, granny ring looks suspect, but the cassette looks fine, so this LX looks like a bargain. Is it going to be any less hard wearing than the Deore M596? Where I ride and with my tight budget, durability is key.
