Gear problem

So I have my first race tomorrow and as I'm in the u14 group I have to restrict my gears :cry:

My dilemma is whether I should 1)restrict my front mech so I can only use the small gear or 2)restrict gear 6 and 7 on my rear mech and have the ability to use both front gears?

I am unable to select the 7th gear while on my smaller front (going to look into that) so I would only have a few gears to use on (1).

    Guess it depends on the route and then work out which option gives you what you want depending on this?

    The terrain is flat so Im guess I should go for number 2 for the higher gear selection.

    Me and my dad have been struggling to restrict gear 6 and 7 on the back with the Limiting screws. Are we doing it wrong? Or does anyone got a guide?
