Good non cleat cycling shoe ?

Taking my bike to Thailand for 6 weeks this summer but afraid to venture out on the roads in my speedplays.
I am going to change to a platform pedal and am looking to get some good stiff flat bottomed shoes as opposed to regular trainers.
Can anyone recommend any such shoe ? I have seen some on Wiggle by a company called Five Ten does anyone have any experience of these ?
Thanks - Mick.

Just use anything with recessed cleats. Some of them will have cleat covers (like the Exustars above, IIRC) for those of your disposition, but even if they don't I can't see the problem. I've done plenty of cycling in my SPD shoes with clips and straps.
If you really want to spend you could get some Dromarti shoes, though the ones they make with no cleats aren't very stiff, I don't suppose!0 -
Thanks guys for your input - I do have a pair of SPD shoes I could use so that might be the answer.
I am drooling at the look of them Dromarti leather shoes but would probably have to go the toe clips route with them.
Thanks again guys.0
