Garmin 800 and re-routing

Slight niggle with my 800 recently. Did a search but couldn't see answers. I always Garmin Connect to create courses and send them to the 800. Then, when choosing a course to follow, I always make sure turn guidance and re-routing are enabled. However, recently if I have gone off course my 800 seems to always want to take me back to the point where I left the planned route.

What I'm not sure about is whether it is 're-routing' me back to the point where I left the course via the shortest route as sometimes it just wants me to make a u-turn. If I persist and re-join the route further ahead, it still seems to want me to turn back, as if it is making sure I have not only re-joined the route, but also followed every part of the route. I hope that makes sense.

Anyway, just wondered if turning off u-turns would help, or whether turning off re-routing would solve the problem of the 800 trying to make me head back to the point where I left the route. I would have thought it would just re-route me back on to the route at the nearest point but then allow me to carry on following the route once I was back on it

Any thoughts...?

Im no pro but I had a similar issue when UTurns were enabled, ive since turned them off and it now allows me to carry on and rejoin at the next spot.
    Living MY dream.
  • Thanks, that seems to have done the trick :)
