Will it not drop out if you remove bottom bracket or seat tube depending which bottle holder?

It's the down tube bracket just wasn't sure it would be as straight forward as removing the bottom bracket. Will this definately give access as otherwise its a lot of hassle if I still can't get to it.

Depends on the construction of the frame and whether you can get access to the downtube via the BB shell or headtube. Try dropping out the forks and having a look.

if you can't get it out via the bb shell or head tube, you could stop the rattle by injecting some tyre sealant through one of the mounting holes, it'll run down to where the nut is and once it sets you'll have peace

of course, you'll still know it's there, and this knowledge will eat away at you, for years, until one day...

Thanks for the replies, due to lack of time and tools I think I'll try the tyre sealant approach..

Most tyre sealants like Stan's, Cafe Latex and so forth are a watery latex solution so I doubt would work. If there's a hole at the bottom of the downtube, it'll run into the bottom bracket shell anyway. If the bike uses recent parts, then all you need are a couple of Allen keys to remove your cranks or your forks.
