Hi all
So. After a couple of years of owning a rockrider 8.1 (which I bought at a direct result of bikerader reviews) I would like to upgrade
So with a cycle to work scheme offer up and coming, I am wondering if the rockrider 8.3 is worth the upgrade

Any ideas are always welcome for what to look for. Personally I love having a hard tail. So if there is anything else to look for (max budget £900)

Thank you all

  • Going to have a look this afternoon, then may pop to have a look at this
(I already have a bmc road bike)
Any thoughts on specs etc compared the two would be great

    Rockrider still.
  • Why do you say that? I am a bit of a novice when it comes to specs and such like

BMC make some great road bikes as do Bianchi but both companies examples of mountain bikes that I have come across are absolute pants and well overpriced.

    The 8.3 is better value
  • Went to see it. Looks awesome. And whilst I haven't a clue what are good gears and forks etc. everything had that quality look and feel about it.
I own the 8.1 at the moment and so. I just need to stick that on gumtree etc.
anyway, also had a quick go on the full suspension rockrider 9.1
I have never been on a full sus bike. And I do think I like the hardtail 'feel'

So. Watch this space. But in the mean time. Anyone wanna pass there opinions on the specs. I'd be grateful to hear them

    Cheers

I also have a RR8.1, and to me, at first glance, it doesn't seem like there's much 'extra' on that 8.3 in terms of spec? I find myself wondering if you could get your existing RR8.1 weight down to 11.5 for less money? I don't know if you could, I'm just asking the question.

New wheels and a Reba for the 8.1.
  • Did you buy the rockrider 8.3? I'm also interested. I haven't had an MTB, or actively ridden the one I have for about 10 years, just looking to get one now because I'm surrounded by rocky trails, hills and woodland where I live. Would love to know your thoughts.
