Well I have taken the old ones out easily enough but cannot open the pistons enough to get the new ones in. I know that one can prize open the pistons but in this case they won't budge anymore.I read that the o ring may have seized but what do you say?

    vbrakes?

System may have been overfilled due to poor 'bleeding' technique, in which case it will need the excess amptying out, if it's overfilled they'll never go back.

You can, remove pads at the caliper end and loosen that bleed screw, mop it up as it comes out as DOT is evil stuff.
