Semi slicks for Marriotts Way

I have just bought a nearly new Carrera fury and it comes with some continental speedking 26 x 2.3 s. I am thinking of getting something less wide so I can go a bit faster. My main trail is marriotts way in Norwich which is fairly flat. One of my spares is a continental double fighter 1.95 semi slick. Is it worth me getting a second one and using these?
