All the best for this, you'll be just fine. I think completing will give you the confidence you need.

Says the guy who knocks out 50k's for fun :)

I wont give up, if the bike stays in one piece and I dont get hit by someone or something else hideous I will get round.
Im not saying I wont cringe but ill give it my best.
One concern is the 3000ft of climb, by far the biggest I will have ever done on a ride.

Re: the climbing. Just be aware of the route and knowing when to push and when to hold something back for what's coming. The climbs look pretty tame and straight forward, biggest one looks to be at the start, take comfort in knowing you will have done the hard bit early on. :)

Im not sure "tame" is the right word for me but I kind of get your meaning ;)
I was hoping to get back home for 1pm, that would give me 3 hours to cover 50k which I reckon should be doable for me.

I only found out about it today. I've emailed in to ask if I can join because the website entry closed on Thursday.

The rider limit is 400 and only 176 signed up so hopefully I can join in

    that hurt

4:30 seems so slow for 64 miles but it was literally all up hill lol. Every corner I went round I was at the bottom of another hill

I wasn't warmed up at all then was faced with climb after climb straight from the car park. Whoever planned out that route is a horrible horrible man lol

Is it normal to have such a huge climb right at the start of an event ? I would have thought the norm would have been to have 5-10km before something so brutal ? It really split the pack up.
What was your top speed on the way down ? I was sitting bolt upright to use my body as a brake I was going so quick !

Half of it must have been downhill surely

Not knocking you though. I did a flat (about 2000 ft of climbing) 64 in 3:30 today and I felt beat up at the end.
Not sure I would have even finished a hilly one today :(

Surely the title of the event was a clue? Malvern is well known for hills.

Well done Vtec for completing it, carry on like that and you will be leading the ride at the Bar-B-Q.

Well done!! I think the hills are thrown in at the start to potentially slim down the peloton.
