hey guys..

i just bought shimano rs-80 wheels and because is my first experience with 16 spoke wheel im not pretty sure that this that happens to me is normal or not.

So while im braking hard with the front brake im experiencing a kind of flex  , the feeling of braking is not smooth like it was on my ultegra wheels.
Its like its getting soft hard soft hard soft hard !!!!!
So is this a malfunction of the 16 spoke front wheel?Or its normal flex while braking cause i am quite heavy 85kg  ...

thanks :D

Sounds like the wheel is out of true, which is not uncommon, even for new wheels.

Low spoke count wheels are not the best idea for heavy or powerful riders in any case.

16 spokes is half the amount of a proper wheel.

Smidsy has it spot on. If the flex is under normal conditions then chances are the wheel is not true. That said, I ride RS80's on my bike and despite 16 count, they are pretty accurate. I would maybe hit a fast hard climb and see if the wheels hit the pads.

    there are 99,9% true
my problem is while braking NOT WHILE STEERING.
the front wheel reacts like in a part of the rim there is grease and slips ....
so while im braking it gives that feeling 'soft hard soft hard' that i mentioned above.
so i clean the rims with alcohol and i re adjust the brake pads and the brakes.
    and the feeling decrease .
my point is .is this natural?or i should send the front wheel back for replacement ?

So i send the front wheel back for inspection and probably replacement ,they made it 100% true
and they told me that they didn't experienced any issues so they send it to me back.
and its better than before but not perfect so i suppose that this is normal in braking with rs-80 wheels

    end of story...

They made it 100% true and sent it back, so it was out of true then 8)
