It's not easy to pick a bad cycling route around Drumlanrig, but the organisers of the Tour of Britain sportive have had a good go with the 50 mile route. Why they have included the truly awful stretches on the Dumfries by pass and then on the A701 when both could be so easily avoided is a mystery. Do they talk to the locals when planning a route?
