Nove Colli?

Anyone going out to this massive Gran Fondo in Italy?

It's on next weekend (19th May) and has 12,000 entrants...

    Not this year.

I did it in 2011. Brilliant route. I suffered badly (for nearly 12 hours!!) with the heat. Spent a lot of time shading under trees!

  • Ah, looks like there's heavy rain showers mixed in with sunshine predicted for this year.

How was the climbing - not too steep but long?

A real mixture. Some long, some steep. I remember a couple at the end seeming really steep, but I was broken by then.

Very well run event, but the scenery is the real winner. Amazing area that I would never have gone to otherwise.

The last climb, the Gorolo isn't as high or as steep as the more famous Barbotto at about halfway, but the Gorolo has 15% near the bottom and after the flattish bit it then has 17%. So 'broken' or not, it's not that easy.

I am leaving on Sunday for the Nove Colli. I am staying at the Hotel Beau Soleil in Cesenatico. It is a great area for cycling. The current forecast calls for rain late in the week but a nice weekend.
