Wheel upgrade for a hybrid

Bit of advise please
i've got a dawes discovery 201 which i've been riding around to lose some weight and get fit.
i've spotted someone selling some Shimano WH-R500A wheels locally for £30
my only concern is that i'm still 17st (ish) and i do occasionally bounce my bike up some kerbs.
Will a set of 20 spoke front and 24 spoke wheels be up to that job, or am i just going to ruin them?
cheers

What is the Over Lock Nut Dimension for your rear hub? Most hbrids are 135 mm same as most MTBs, but road bikes typically have 130 mm so I don't think it will fit.

From the tech doc "Over Lock Nut Dimension: 130 mm (5-1/8")" the rear appears to be road bike sized.
I'm 78 kg and went for 32 spoke front and rear handbuilt wheels from Spa cycles, because my 24 front/32 rear Halo Aerorage were too flexy for light touring/commuting. Reckon 32 spoke count would be needed if you are a bit heavier or harder on your bike, especially if you are a kerb hopping fan!0
