Hi,

I considering buying a Hybrid in a Cycle2Work scheme that starts in a month or two. The scheme uses Halfords so would be looking at the Boardman range. Had a look at them and the Team would probably be the one that I went for.

But as a private sale I have also be offered a 2010\11 Pro model (unused) for about the same price that the 2012\13 Team will cost on the scheme.

On paper I'm guessing the 10\11 Pro would be a better bike than the 12\13 Team.

But totally new to this, so before I jump one way or another, I'd like to understand whether there have been any particular advances in the 2012\13 models, or known problems with the 2010\11.

Should add that this is more for general exercise than for daily commuting. I have a mountain bike already, so am looking for something for the road. I don't want a road bike.

Many thanks for your help and advice.

Cheers,

Nigel

In my opinion, the newer frame is much better quality. If you are using a rack/mudguards then the fact that the rear disc is mounted on the chainstay rather than the seatstay really helps too. 10 speed gearing is better and more modern too. You also get a warranty on the new bike. I know which I would go for...
