I'm planning to buy a new hybrid bike for leisure riding on roads and cycle paths. Planning to do C2C ride soon. I already have a road bike so looking for something that's more suitable for cycle paths while still nippy on the road. My budget is between £300 and £500. I'm not looking for any suspension or disc brakes. I've looked at the Trek DS 8.1 and the Pinnacle Lithium 1. The Trek is £100 dearer but I'm not sure if it's any better.

Any views, advice or opinions welcome.

Don 't do it - thats my advice.

What about a CX bike? or just putting 28mm tyres on your road bike? depending on what your definition of cycle paths is.

I bought a hybrid to get back into cycling (cannondale bad boy) then not long after bought a road bike, i still have my hybrid and dont think i would get rid of it, i now use it for going out with the kids, wife, wet weather and commuting, just dont expect to keep up with a road bike on the road and a mountain bike on the trails.
