1x10 ratios for little legs

I'm doing a custom build for my son and going to run a 1x10 set-up, and I'm wondering what ratios might be best?
He is only 8 and I've been looking at the Islabike Creig 26 ratios, which are 28 front with a 11-36 rear (http://www.islabikes.co.uk/bike_pages/creig26.html). Looks plenty low enough for his little legs, but should I go for a 32 front instead? He is a fit 8 year old, and rides track, road, cyclocross etc but I don't want to over-gear.

I'd say 28 or 30 would be better, still gives him a bit of top end, but shouldn't over gear him.0

I'd agree, better to be freewheeling down a hill than not be able to pedal up a hill.Planet X Kaffenback 2
