2X10 Front mechs

I have a 2012 stumpjumper fsr frame and xt 38/24 chainset.
Apparently i need an e2 type xt front mech but it only has a capacity of 12, however i have a 14t difference between chainrings.
Seems weird that every other xt 2x10 front mech has a capacity of 14 but the e2 12, will it work ok?

I think the E2 refers to the mounting. However, as you say according to Shimano, the E2 can only manage 12 not 14. Very strange.Planet X Kaffenback 2

Strangely the new SLX E2 model has a capacity of 14, looks the same design as the xt model. Maybe the XT instructions since the introduction of the newer 38/24 combo
I want the xt but should i get the slx?0 -
If it's only the actual mech that's slx, the cranks, chain rings and every thing else is xt, you probably won't be able tell.Planet X Kaffenback 2

Have you changed the granny ring yourself as the xt 2x10 are 38/26 not 24 so possibly problem solved?0
