Might sound like a daft question,
but I recently bought a new tyre(shwalbe albert)
which has no arrows on it,
does this mean it is either way rotational?

Are you sure. Looks directional to me.

if there is no direction arrow on the tyre sidewall then you can usually tell with the tread pattern

It looks like there are separate front and rear versions:

Check both sides of the tyre, sometimes the arrow is only on one side.

    alberts are bi directional.

the front only is just a softer compound IIRC.

The 2 pics on the Schwalbe website show a different tread pattern between the 'Front' and the 'front and rear' though neigher look particularly directional so it probably doesn't matter.
