I am going to buy the Trek Elite 8.5 and the brakes it comes with are Shimano M446 hydraulic disc brakes, i cant seem to find any information on them so i thought to ask here and what do you think of them or should i upgrade them to something better. I am going to be using them for trails.

Yep they're not bad, I've had them before and liked them. They're basic, but work. And they're pretty light too.

Wouldn't it make more sense to use them first and see?

My girlfriend had a pair on her Spech Myka.

Pretty good brakes actually, firm feel to them

Tried them once on a test ride! They're OK, if they're standard equipment on the bike you've got I don't see any reason to change them

Only reason I see to change them straight off is if you are sure you'll change them soon so will get more for them as 'unused' otherwise they are far from being bad.

Anyone know what size i need to get from superstar for these brakes ?

I thought i would use up the pads that came with the brakes, sintered which have lasted quite a while but now need some replacements.

They have a dropdown, and a shape guide.

i've looked at the pictures of the pads and shimano s2 look to be the correct ones but would just like to confirm with someone else they are the correct replacements.
